A house called Alice

Updated: May 24

The last 10 days have been very busy as we completed on our purchase of what we are calling Project Alice, a large three-bedroomed Victorian terraced house, with two bathrooms, in the heart of our favourite St Luke's area in Maidstone.

The house has been let for decades, and is in need of some thorough TLC from top to bottom. We take our responsibilities as a landlord seriously - this is no "side hustle" or "flip", and we are passionate about creating lovely homes for renters.

We are starting with the outside space by creating a patio, laying turf, and putting in a small raised bed, so that it will be a place that our renters will love to spend time in. But we are keeping it all low maintenance as we know people don't want to be spending all their time gardening!

Next we will be decorating and repairing the exterior, from replacing the broken guttering and downpipes, repointing and generally tidying up the brickwork, and painting all of the fascia boards and window sills.

Finally, we will turn to the inside, and paint the entire house, replace the carpets and refresh the bathrooms. We will also be replacing the gas hob and electric over, and putting in our signature Google Nest thermostats, so the combi boiler is easy to control.

It's a big project, and we hope to have the house available for letting in mid-June.
